This Glen Elgin Single Cask, bottled with Berry Bros and Rudd, and released for Whisky Fringe 2025, has quite a story.

1 of 145 bottles, matured in American oak before finishing for 3 years in a Moscatel cask, this is the second time this dram has been at our summer event Whisky Fringe (in a way). 

In 2019, part of the original American oak cask was chosen by Whisky Fringe attendees to bottle. The other part remained in cask until 2022 when it was filled in to a fresh Moscatel cask. When Chris from Berry Bros and our buyer Sam tasted this, they thought it was something special, so it was bottled and launched in time for Whisky Fringe 2025 in early August.

Sam's thoughts: After an odyssey, our old friend has returned with a familiar smile, but is now adorned with wares of adventure.

 

Official Tasting Notes

Nose: An elegant aroma unfurls with cherries and peaches before summer berries and key lime pie. A subtle note of damp foliage is enticing.

Palate: A juicy texture with viscous raspberries followed by savoury pepper and chewy sawdust.

Finish: Figs and rice pudding then orange zest and grapes before a fudge and coconut finale.
