In Scotland, the quaich (a traditional two-handled drinking cup) is sometimes used in wedding ceremonies, with the couple sharing a drink as a symbol of trust and togetherness. Whisky makes a fitting choice, although the important bit is the sharing.
There's also a curious American tradition of burying a bottle of bourbon a month before an outdoor wedding, in the hope of keeping the rain away. We can't promise it'll work but at least you'll have a bottle of bourbon ready to dig up afterwards.
