A very pleasant, sweet Speyside dram, Glen Elgin's bottlings combine a variety of orange and citrus flavours in a sweet, honeyed body. Nut oils and a buttery quality give the whisky a full mouthfeel that carries big fruit flavours well; prunes and dried fruits along with lighter notes of fresh pears and white fruit. Our longest standing member of staff and something of a legend, Alex, counts this as his favourite distillery.

This distillery is one of several situated on the road between Rothes and Elgin. It was built by William Simpson and James Carle, the former manager at Glenfarclas. The distillery was finished just weeks before the infamous Pattison crash which saw a collapse in the market for new make malt whisky.
The distillery was sold in 1901, for less than a third of the price it cost to build, to the Glen Elgin-Glenlivet Distillery Co Ltd before eventually coming under the ownership of Guinness-UDV, later forming Diageo.
The distillery produces top quality malt which is often overlooked, as it mostly contributes to blends, however it made an appearance in Diageo's Flora and Fauna range, when a bottling was released in 2001, and developed a cult following. Currently there is an official 12 year old release as well as a number of independent bottlings available.
