This independent bottler has been finding and bottling some of the best whisky casks out there, since the early 90s. Though the name on the bottles is a little older than that.
The Adelphi name dates back to the Loch Katrine Adelphi Distillery, established in 1826, on the banks of the river Clyde. In its prime - around 1886 - the distillery was one of the largest in Scotland, producing over 500,000 litres of malt and grain spirit. This was not to last, however, as the distillery shut down its pot stills in 1907, followed by its Coffey stills in 1932, and was finally demolished in 1971.
The Adelphi name was revived in 1993, as Jamie Walker began sourcing exceptional, rare casks to create releases as an independent bottler. He gained the rights to Punch Magazine's "Dancey Man" cartoon from 1853, which became the Adelphi mascot and logo - overseeing what would become decades of spectacular whisky releases.
In 2007, after 14 years of highly acclaimed individual casks and bottling series, the first plans were made to build a new distillery. In 2014, Ardnamurchan Distillery ran off its first spirit, and the Adelphi company was once again producing its own whisky, alongside the continuing independently bottled casks that have gained an incredible level of support and trust over the years.
