Built on the site of Imperial distillery, demolished in 2013, in Carron on the North bank of the river spey, Dalmunach distillery was comissioned in 2014 and produced its first spirit in September of that year.

Dalmunach produces spirit in a classically Speyside bright and fruity style, with a distinctly zesty citrus note. This is very apparent in this small-scale, single cask bottling.

Spirit distilled at Dalmunach in 2017, was filled into a refill Bourbon barrel where it was matured for 5 years. This whisky was selected by the Royal Mile Whiskies team from the collection of casks held by independent bottlers and blenders, the Gleann Mòr Spirits Company. It was bottled exclusively for RMW at cask strength without chill filtration or additional colouring.

This bottling was a relatively low outturn, so we don't expect it to hang around for too long.

Tasting Notes

Staff Tasting Notes

Nose: Expressive, peach tartelette with a grating of citrus zest and a drizzle of honey

Palate: Bright and fresh, but with an oily viscosity. Honey, vanilla and white pepper.

Finish: The sweet honeyed throughline is quenched and balanced by a citrus tang, and the spirit's youthful bite cleanses the palate.
