New Zealand has had a temperamental relationship with distilling over the years which has led to it not being as well known a whisky producing nation.
This is changing though due to people like 'The New Zealand Whisky Company' who have bought up all the remaining stock of the Willow bank distillery (which closed in 1997) to release as limited edition bottlings over the years.
Although there are a few distilleries that have now started producing whisky in New Zealand these are very hard to find outside of the country. Distileries such as Hokonui, Cadrona and The Thomson Whisky distillery are all now producing a vast variety or spirits. We're sure that we'll see them on ourt shores soon enough.
New Zealand and Scotland have a long, shared history and it is not at all surprising to see that whisky is another thing to two nations have in common!
