Generally releasing single cask malts, independent bottler Wemyss are producing slightly larger vattings which focus on one flavour element of whisky. The Treacle Chest is a blend of 14 first fill ex-sherry hogsheads containing two different Highland single malts. An edition of 6,300 bottles.

Official Tasting Notes

Nose: Rich treacle sweetend with deep fruit notes of dates, blackcurrant and figs. Deep aromatic wood notes like an old wooden chest made from antique mahogany or chestnut.
Palate: Toasted ginger oat biscuits with nuggets of walnut and crystalised fruits, served warm from the oven, alongside a mug of spiced hot chocolate. Fine leather mingles with damp heather buffeted by coastal sea spray.
Finish: The wood makes its presence known leaving bittering caraway flavour, pipe tobacco and mild spice.
