The Knockando legacy
Knockando was used in many of Scotland's most famous blends. The most notable and well known of these is J&B which was at one point the second biggest whisky in the world. However, in 1971 its nutty, floral character started to appear on shelves as a single malt whisky. Nowadays Knockando is just as well known in its own right as it is as a blender's asset.

Knockando is another example of the stellar work of famed whisky architect Charles Doig. Founded in 1898 by John Thompson production started in May of that year. However, hard times were soon to follow.
Only 10 months are Knockando had first fired up its stills the whisky industry was shaken to its core by the crash caused by the mismanagement of the Pattison brothers. A raft of distillery closures followed and Knockando was among them.
It wasn't for too long though as the distillery was sold in 1903 to the Gilby's gin company and production started again. Since then, barring having to shut down production during the war due to barley rationing, Knockando has been producing five days week and growing in popularity around the globe.
Our Range of Knockando Scotch
Explore some of our options below to see why this malt is highly sought after among our customers:
Knockando 12-Year-Old - Light and nutty, this single-malt develops its sweet and toast flavours from American oak and bourbon barrels. Dark berries and wildflowers create a segway into a complex but subtle palate of bready goodness and soft char.
This is a popular aperitif choice in France and is gentle enough for anyone to enjoy.
Knockando 1991 18-Year-Old - A rare bottling that is easily found in France but occasionally in the UK, this dram is matured in a sherry cask for a rich wine undertone. Muscovado sugar and vanilla custard create a dreamy palate that melds into festive notes of orange peel, clove, and jammy fruit cake.
At Royal Mile Whiskies, these bottles go fast. To keep up with the latest restocks or releases of Knockando bottles, as well as announcements on our events and masterclasses, be sure to sign up for our newsletter!
