The Isle of Jura is a sparsely populated hard to get to place. In fact, only around 200 people live on the island and they are vastly outnumbered by the deer that reside there. The distillery was founded in 1810 but the building as we know it now was not built until 1963 after the original distillery fell into disrepair. The unusually tall stills gives their spirit a very distinctive character.

Jura have what are thought to be the second largest stills in Scotland (the largest being at Glenkinchie) and this lends itself to creating a very light spirit to build their whisky from. This has allowed the whisky makers at Jura to be more adaptable and create many flavour profiles within their whisky.
The whisky from Jura covers from light and fresh, to big and spicy and even to a very heavily peated spirit. They really have something in their range for everyone.
Jura is also one of the fastest growing single malts in the world. It is thought that if the staggering growth continues they may even have to build a second distillery on this small island to keep up with the demand around the world!

The Milestone Malts of Jura
As well as the collectables, we have some of Jura’s milestone malts, which make for great options for your regular dram.
Jura 12 Year Old - A sweet, flowery whisky that has a lovely lingering smoke. This Jura is a great combination of Highlands whisky and Islands whisky.
Jura 18 Year Old – Aged in both ex bourbon casks and Bordeaux ex wine casks, this malt is a bit heavier but still has that recognisable Jura taste.
