The History of Inchgower Whisky
The Inchgower distillery was established in 1871 to replace the Tochineal distillery. Although it faced liquidation in 1903, it found new life when the Buckie Council purchased it in 1936. By 1938, Arthur Bell & Sons Ltd took ownership, inspiring the iconic bell logo that is still used to this very day. At present, Inchgower is owned by Diageo and continues to produce high-quality whisky.
Inchgower’s water source is a burn from the Menduff Hills, contributing to its unique character. Known as a Lower Speyside Malt, Inchgower whisky is a key component in Bell’s blended whisky, but its single malts are highly prized for their distinctive taste.
