Royal Mile Whiskies has a great range of Fettercairn Whisky, which can be ordered online and in our store.
One of the rare distilleries that is still open in the Aberdeenshire area in the north east of Scotland, Fettercairn Distillery is situated on the rather aptly named Distillery Road, on the outskirts of the village of Fettercairn. A village that has a rather glorious Royal Arch, commemorating the visit of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. A fruity malt, that also has a good bit of spice and body. It can work well in Bourbon or Sherry casks.

The distillery was established in 1824 at Laurencekirk, to replace an earlier distillery of the same name just two miles away. In 1887 the Fettercairn Distillery Co. was formed with Sir John Gladstone as the chairman. His son William Gladstone would later become the Prime Minister.
William Gladstone had been beneficial to the whisky industry when he was in power (even if he didn't get along with whisky drinking Queen Victoria), passing reforms that abolished the punishing malt tax, and permitting the sale of whisky in bottles to the public. However the Gladstones did not have a direct hand in the distillery itself, preferring to lease it out to tennants for the century it was in the family's hands.
The distillery contributes to the Whyte & Mackay blends, who have owned the distillery since 1973. It is also available as a single malt, and the company has focused more on this side of the distillery since 2009.
Fettercairn celebrates their 200th anniversary this year, exhibiting their rarest whiskies, aged in ex-cognac, oak, and bourbon barrels. This distillery is integral to Aberdeen’s heritage, rich in history and taste. Foundational flavours for Fettercairn whiskies include Madagascan vanilla, liquorice, apricots, and roast coffee. Tropical influences permeate every aspect of their products.
Tropical House Character In A Highland Single Malt
Fettercairn whiskies use a custom-made cooling ring to encourage the batch's reflux activity, creating a light and crisp tropical dram. Notes of lychee, passionfruit, and guava are detected throughout their bottles, making them unique to the whisky community.
Fettercairn 2004 18 Years Old Old Particular is part of the Old Particular range. This independently bottled whisky matured for 18 years in oak barrels and then was bottled at 48.4% ABV. This single malt is incredibly popular for its freshness of exotic guava, tart berries, warm, spiced vanilla, and chocolate palate. Its beautiful golden glow easily charms any collector looking for a special bottle of highland whisky.
