The story of Cragganmore Scotch
Cragganmore distillery uses lightly peated malted barley that adds a touch of dry smoke to their deeply complex malt. The rich, full bodied spirit combines floral notes with a citrus burst under that gentle peaty smoke. A variety of white fruits and berries blend into the mix of flavours. Spice and a woody vanilla increase with extra age, as does the body of the already somewhat meaty whisky.

Situated in the village of Ballindalloch on the road from Aberlour to Grantown, Cragganmore is said to have been the first distillery to be built to take advantage of the Strathspey railway line. Indeed its founder John Smith was a great railway enthusiast.
John himself was a man well-educated in the art of whisky production, having had managerial roles at Macallan, Dailuaine, Wishaw and Glenlivet distilleries before building Cragganmore. He used his expertise to select a location along the Spey that had easy access to water, transport and fuel, as well as having a direct hand in the setup of the stills. He selected flat-top spirit stills and worm tub condensers with all the stills, which is believed contribute to the complexity of the whisky.
Cragganmore was chosen by Diageo to be its classic Speyside (one of the six 'Classic Malts') in 1988 which has helped to make Cragganmore a well recognised malt whisky, though it is a little more reserved in its editions than some of its fellow speysiders. There are only the 12 year old and Distiller's Editions available, probably in part due to the popularity of the whisky for blending. It is one of the few to have received an A1 classification by blenders.
The Cragganmore collection
Bold and interesting maturing techniques blend perfectly with Speyside flavour.
Take a look at these popular options from the Cragganmore distillery in our range:
Cragganmore 12-Year-Old - Herbaceous and earthy, this bottle has a strong flavour of tart cranberry sauce and peeled apples with notes of vanilla pods and malted barley. It’s a smoky ride balancing nuttiness with breadiness and a hint of creamy sweetness.
Cragganmore Distillers Edition - This is a double-matured dram that uses wine casks for a distinctly elevated texture and taste. Boozy stone fruits in a punchy Sangria give way to hints of delicate smoke and a slightly oily palate. Woody, spicy, and fun, this tipple does not disappoint.
