We are excited to introduce our exclusive, single cask, cask strength Ben Nevis. A very highly rated distillery, we are delighted to bottle this cask selected by our buyers for you to enjoy. 1 of 227 bottles, it is a fantastic dram.

Distilled 29th March 1996 and matured for over 29 years in a single hogshead at the distillery. Many 1990s vintages of Ben Nevis are celebrated by whisky fans but 1996 is arguably the most adored vintage. The use of brewers yeast during this era contributed to big funky tropical fruit characters which were usually only revealed after extended maturation.

This is a dense, funky Ben Nevis that reveals more coastal, mineral notes but explodes with a dash of water and delivers on the 1996 archetype we've seen before. Tasting this vintage as it approaches three decades is special and surely signposts an exciting new chapter for this amazing year of Ben Nevis distillate.

Official Tasting Notes

Nose: A dense coastal aroma at first followed immediately by orange and lime zests and salted mangoes. After a drop of water, the fruit intensifies and elegantly strides the line between coastal and tropical.

Palate: A textured unctuous palate, then hints of wax, stone, sand and burnt syrup. Water reveals tropical fruit salad and adds a refined sweetness.

Finish: Long waxy vanilla then tropical fruits including newly ripe mangoes. Ben Nevis funk really emerges here and is amplified with a dash of water before sweet shop goodies and beachy notes.
