Uncle Nearest 1856 Premium Whiskey 100 Proof

A Tennessee whiskey made to honour Nathan 'Nearest' Green who has been acknowledged as the first African American distiller. Nathan was a slave who was master distiller at a distillery in Lynchburg and is credited as helping to inform the Lincoln County Process which uses maple charcoal to filter whiskey before ageing. Nathan also mentored the young Jack Daniel in distillation during the in the mid-1800s, a man who would found the world famous distillery of the same name. The 1856 is a blend of whiskeys between 8 and 14 years of age made at undisclosed Nashville distilleries, all maple charcoal filtered before ageing and then bottled at 100 proof (50%).
Official Tasting Notes

Nose :Bale of hay, dried grass, stone fruit notes of ripe peach and apricot, caramel corn and sweet maple.

Palate :Spicy caramel up front with the proof, hints of maple then mellows with dried fruit and floral notes. Sweetness and spice reminiscent of freshly baked oatmeal raisin cookies.

Finish : Long and rich finish, lingers pleasantly sweet on the palate, notes of vanilla.
