Lowland Whisky

Lowland whiskies tend to be light, fruity and dry, which have elegant and subtle profiles rather than robust and peaty flavours. The Lowland region lies South of an imaginary line that runs from Dundee to Greenock. With a tendency toward light, dry whiskies that can taste quite spirity, some examples have grassy or floral qualities. Some distilleries such as Glenkinchie are still producing reasonable volumes, while others such as St Magdalene in Linlithgow have, sadly, been mothballed.
