Arran Whisky

Isle of Arran's core range brings fruity sweetness, cereals and spices with a fresh Island nature. Arran is vibrant in younger editions, with age showing a richer depth of fruit, chocolate, nuts and spice. Each bottle in the Cask Finish range presents a dominant cask characteristic for some intense experiences. The Cask Strength and peated Machrie Moor editions pack an extra punch in character.

Once upon a time, in the 19th Century, the Isle of Arran was a thriving whisky capital with over 50 distilleries on the island. Granted, most of these were 'Moonlight Distilleries' that were illegal, as they never registered to pay taxes or duties. The last legal distillery on Arran, the Lagg Distillery, closed its doors in 1837 and with it closed the chapter of Arran's (legal) whisky making glory.

Arran remained whiskyless for 160 years until the Isle of Arran Distillery was conceived in 1994, built and in production a year later, with the first 3 year old single malt bottled in 1998. Since that time, Arran has put together several collections of whiskies, from their core range (steadily increasing as they hit significant ages) to their cask finished collection that matches the spirit with some wonderful wood influences, the peated Machrie Moor and its cask strength counterpart, right through to their Robert Burns whiskies and even an Arran whisky cream liqueur.

With the surprisingly wide range of Arran products, it is hard to find someone who could fail to enjoy at least one bottle of Arran. And yet, there is even more from the, still very young, distillery. Arran has developed a number of limited edition bottlings to show off their finest creations over the years (a la Devil's Punchbowl series), pay special tribute to features of the distillery (Icons of Arran series) or special members of the Arran Distillery team (Private Cask releases). These editions have rapidly become highly collectible items, sought by the dedicated following of Arran as well as the larger whisky community. We commend them for consistent quality and fair pricing.
