Redbreast 12 Year Old Whiskey
Distilled at the Midleton Site, home of the frankly awesome Jameson distillery, Redbreast is Irish Single Pot Still Whiskey. This means it is a mixture of malted and unmalted barley (which creates more rich notes on the final palate), triple distilled, with eash distillation cut being chosen for the heavier, fruitier spirit, before it is then aged in predominantly ex sherry casks. Fruity, rich, and spicy, Billy Leighton, the master blender at Jameson comments on Redbreats "Redbreast is a reflection of Irish Whiskey as it used to be, and always should be. Staff Tasting Notes
Nose: Bucket loads of vanilla and gingerbread spice mix, mixed in with marzipan, and almonds. There is an element of the intense oakiness you get from heavily charred, high quality bourbons, followed by big notes of fruitiness, apple chews, honeydew melon, pears, strawberries and more fruitiness the more you smell it.
Palate: Vanilla creaminess, spices, dried fruits, butter icing, stewed apple notes, and layers and layers of other tasty flavours. A brilliant balance of spice and sweet.
