La Hechicera Aged Rum
The Riascos family, based in Columbia, source casks of rum from all over the Caribbean, blend it and age it in Columbia in their Solera system. This is a blend of rums aged between 12 and 21 years in American White oak casks.
Staff Tasting Notes
Warm vanilla sweetness up front which swiftly moves into fruit territory. Be ready for an inundation of melon chunks, peach syrup, banana flavouring and apricots. All of this swimming in a smooth treacle, Illy coffee and dark molasses.
Still lots of the sweetness with the addition of cola cubes and vanilla cream but it is tempered with some spicy warmth. Cooking spices shift into a slightly vegetal flavour of dry Madeira and tobacco leaves before reinstating its sweetness with peaches baked in custard.
