Tasting Notes
Official Tasting Notes
Nose: A joy. The subtle influence of sherry finishing is immediate but in no way suppresses the impact of almonds, hazelnuts and citrus. Perhaps a hint of wood pine and floral tea... what 'Room 101' nightmare it would be to be deprived of the sense of smell when there is so much here to stimulate and excite!
Palate: The weather foul, a gale howling outside... what better backdrop for a full appreciation of this bold, majestic whisky, the warmth on the tongue, the richly rewarding aftertaste that lingers long on the palate. Without succumbing to traditional taster's 'doublespeak, this 1984 special edition is as soft as it is strong, shy yet seductive, smooth but bursting with indomitable spirit and individuality. In short, a fitting tribute to a great work, a great man... and a great location for the crafting of one of the finest whiskies on earth.
