This limited-edition single malt whisky marks the 10th anniversary of the award winning Private Edition series.
Glenmorangie Allta was distilled from local Cadball barley, sourced from the fields near the distillery, together with a newly discovered wild yeast strain found on the barley. It was matured in ex-bourbon barrels, primarily second fill. The name Allta comes from Scots Gaelic for 'wild' and captures this innovative method of fermentation using local wild yeast.
Official Tasting Notes
Rounded, biscuit/yeasty tones. Gentle floral notes (carnations and Palma violets), baking bread, very gently vanilla, soft raisins and sweet mandarin orange.
A crisp citrus 'bite' to the mouthfeel. Butter candy, creamy vanilla, orange syrup with yeasty background. Gentle mint, the tiniest hint of sweet chilli and delicate, dancing floral notes.
Long and earthy with hints of bitter sweet orange and peppermint.
