Balvenie 12 Year Old Double Wood

Balvenie is one of the best whiskies for someone who is just getting in to the fantastic world of single malt whisky. This Speyside distiller still grow, and malt much of their barley on their own estate, employ a Copper Smith for their stills and their own Cooper who deals with their casks. Doublewood refers to the whisky being transferred from ex Bourbon casks to ex sherry casks during maturation, combining flavours from both.

Staff Tasting Notes

Nose: Some sherry notes coming through: onion chutney, burnt caramel, pickle, dates, raisins and plums.

Palate: Tablet, cherries, buttery, very creamy and a cheesecake biscuit base mouthfeel. More chocolate, and milky notes on the finish.
