Perhaps over-shadowed by the neighbouring island of Islay in terms of whisky production, the Isle of Jura is however an amazing island. George Orwell wrote 1984 here. The Island has only one road, one distillery and the island's pub has some of the best views of any pub we've ever been sober enough to see out of! The whisky is generally lighter than its big brothers from the south of Islay, although some of the mature bottlings from the distillery are exceptional in their complexity. The peated whisky they have been making in recent years for their Superstition brand is impressive, so much so that we bottled a whole cask of 6 year old on its own, which our customers loved!
